Cross Country Practice - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12.40

Before the practice
It would be beneficial to go over the map with your class before coming to the first practice. Also discuss strategies:

  • Pace yourself (Don’t sprint at the start)
  • Think about your running style (bend knees, run on balls of your feet, pump arms side to side not across your body, recap some CMIYC tips)
  • Breathing techniques (in through nose out through mouth, slow and steady breathing)
  • If you find it difficult, set goals like ‘run to the corner then walk to the sign etc
  • set goals where each day you get a bit further before you need to stop and walk
  • Importance of warm ups/downs. Task cards will be out to work through independently at the end
