Our Literacy Programme for the term

Our Literacy goals will focus on...


  • Asking questions, carrying out investigations and writing explanations associated with 'Astronomical Systems'.
Investigating in science achievement aim
  • Carry out science investigations using a variety of approaches: classifying and identifying, pattern seeking, exploring, investigating models, fair testing, making things, or developing systems.
Levels 3–4 achievement objectives
  • Build on prior experiences, working together to share and examine their own and others’ knowledge.
  • Ask questions, find evidence, explore simple models, and carry out appropriate investigations to develop simple explanations.
  • Analysing, questioning and understanding Myths and Legends associated with the Night Sky! Different cultures from around the world had their own beliefs about the Earth, Moon and the Sun.





Pānui / Tuhituhi - Literacy : Term 2
You have 1 time slot for Reading Weekly. You must complete at least 3 learning priorities a day before you start your learning choices - We will have approximately an hour and a half a day for Literacy, so you need to manage your time wisely. Some activities may take longer than others. Within that time you need to complete the activity, take screenshots of progress and upload onto your blog as evidence. Unless the activity has (NP) which means no post.

  • Word of the Week! (WALT: find synonyms and use them in at least 2 sentences (BP)
  • Read theory (2x a week)

Your post must have a:
  1. Title
  2. WALT
  3. Image - something visual for the reader
  4. Description
  5. Evaluation - how well do I think I did (target/criteria)
  6. Feedback/feedforward from buddy/teacher/parent
